Naewonsa Sancheong South Gyeongsang Province South Korea
Naewonsa (Inner-House, or Entering-Temple, Monastery) located at the mouth of Naewoncheon (stream) Naewonsa Valley ("Guardian-Altar Scenic-Gorge") was originally founded as Deoksansa (Virtue Mountain Temple) in 657.

In the late Shilla Dynasty (801-888) the temple was restored. The name was changed to Naewonsa sometime in the Goryeo Dynasty (918-1390).

Naewonsa Seated Stone Birojanabul (Vairocana, the Buddha of Infinite Cosmic Light), housed at Naewonsa, has significant damage from being in the elements. Carved in the 766, it was originally at Seongnamam (hermitage ) but was moved to Naewonsa after the Korean War to preserve it. Being Korea's earliest known statue of Birojanabul, it is valuable in the study of art history. Seated Stone Birojanabul is Treasure #1021.
