Chungju Jungangtap Park North Chungcheong Province Pagoda Seven-Story Stone Pagoda in Tappyeong-ri South Korea
Jungangtap Park is a sculpture park along the river in Chungju and the location of the Seven-Story Stone Pagoda in Tappyeong-ri and the Chungju Museum. The pagoda is National Treasure #6. The Seven-Story Stone Pagoda in Tappyeong-ri, standing 42.5 feet high, is also known as Jungangtap, which literally means "Central Pagoda", because it is located at what was the center of the Unified Silla territory. Many stone pagodas date to the Silla period, but this is the only one with seven stories. Archaeologists differ as to exactly when this pagoda was built, but considering the construction techniques used it is believed to date to the late 8th century.
