Naesosa, Korean Buddhist Temple originally called Soraesa, was built by Buddhist Monk Hyegu in 633 AD during the Baekje Dynasty and was rebuilt by Monk Cheongmin in 1633 during the Joseon Dynasty. Around the time of the Imjin War (1592–98) the temple's name changed to Naesosa. Daeungbojeon, the main worship hall was built in 633 and is designated Treasure #291. The Goryeo Bronze Bell at the temple was cast in 1222 and is designated Treasure #277. In 1986 the area surrounding temple for a 1/3 mile was designated a culturally protected area.
